The Beautiful and Charming Island of Favignana

Favignana is a small, mountainous island situated west of the coast of Sicily, Italy, near the city of Trapani.
It was colonised by the Phoenicians then contended between the Romans and the Carthaginians during the First Punic War. It fell to the Saracens, subsequently to the Normans and the Aragonese (Spaniard) rulers.
The island is famous for its “tufo” stone caves and the fishing technique called “tonnara”. It is a popular tourist destination for scuba diving, snorkeling, and day trips from nearby locations such as Trapani, Erice, Mozia and Segesta.

This is a video of one of our expeditions to Catalina Island. We were super happy with the island and we are going to go back and explore further south at the Channel Islands in 2008. The underwater life was amazing and I am looking forward to diving with the Sea Lions next year.
