Scooter Free Diving The Rodeo
Monday, April 28th, 2008
A few weekends back, before heading down to Key Largo for incredibly poor visibility on the Speigel Grove, I headed off Pompano for a preview of the same? Times are changing, used to be the cold water this time of year and westerly winds almost assured excellent viz.
Anyway, did some free diving on the Rodeo which rests in about 130 ft. of water coming up to about 50 ft. at the mast. It is amazing how fast they burn up their no deco time SCUBA diving so it was a quick free dive for me as well. Shot video with a weaker Olympus 770 sw still camera in video mode. Still, the clip conveys the concept of what was going on. More at fksa.org under “Heading Out.”

Me as an Oompa Loompa
Running around helplessly

Turtles are abundant here, and it is not uncommon to be able to watch them for lengthy periods munching away at algae and sponges or lazing around on wall shelves. The amount of macro life that inhabits the walls is also staggering. You could literally while away hours of precious scuba diving time zeroing in on these tiny, wonderful creatures.
Scuba Diving in Cozumel, Mexico
Monday, April 28th, 2008Cozumel is one of the great scuba diving locations in the world. Located just northeast of the Yucatan Peninsula, Cozumel is Mexico’s largest Caribbean island. Once known as the sacred grounds of Mayan Goddesses and a safe haven for pirates, Cozumel is now known for being home to the second largest barrier reef in the world and some of the best scuba diving to be found anywhere on the planet.
